Deep pink and red flowers work well too!
Deep pink and red flowers work well too!
Summer flowers are in abundance and we love the blues and purples mixed with natural bark.
We decorate some shops for Belgravia in Bloom to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show. As the theme was children's books, we used the opportunity to celebrate Ladybird books and had hundreds of ladybirds in our display.
This mossed rugby player took ownership of the bar at an event at Saracens home ground Allianz Park. We provided bark covered rugby balls for the occasional tables and gorgeous red flowers for the dining tables.
Spring is coming and we are using pretty plants such as these 'Glorious Laced Gold Primroses' and wonderful flowering bulbs for fresh and happy displays.
Valentine's Day comes around again and we have Red Roses ready for displays for our clients. St Valentine, thought to be a Roman priest in the 3rd century, was executed on 14th February for arranging secret marriages and wrote a letter to his jailers daughter, who he was in love with, signing it 'Your Valentine'.
All Christmas decorations are cleared at the beginning of this month, but we still seem to be knee deep in baubles and pine needles back at the studio! The big sort out continues through Burn's Night.
Still putting up Christmas trees and decorating them all through this month. Just about have enough time before the big day to put our own up! The delights of Christmas will be over before we know it.
Vans are loaded and the first of many Christmas installations begin. Our intake of coffee and biscuits increase as more people come to help with the tasks ahead.
Very busy now with Christmas preparations, but baubles and frames have to be moved aside for fresh flowers for other events! There is a lot of space juggling at our studio as we try to store all the decorations arriving daily.
Almost 5,000 red roses are ordered, conditioned and taken to Chesire to be arranged for an event to raise money for Dementia Research.
This month we spend cutting masses of birch and ash logs to decorate candelabra and make containers for a 'wood' themed 21st birthday party! Many hours of labour, nails and screws later the effect speaks for itself.
Summer flowers bring plenty of colour and perfume to our lives, although the weather is still making up its mind! Beautiful peonies are just some of the English flowers celebrated for British Flowers Week. At our studio, flowers for summer events continue alongside preparations for Christmas 2016. Who knows, some lucky person might find a bauble in the middle of their wedding bouquet!
This month the Chelsea Flower Show takes place just across the river from us. As the tents go up and the gardens take form the New Covent Garden Market is full of exciting plants and fresh flowers, including British Sweet Peas and Stocks!
Spring flowers gently morph into the colours and scents of summer flowers and we reflect the changing seasons. Our studio remains as cool as ever though, great for keeping flowers fresh. Dried pasta and glue are on our shopping list this month!
With Easter earlier this year, we prepare for some egg themed window displays!
As it has been such a mild winter, Spring is springing up all over! Valentine’s Day gives us inspiration to veer away from red roses for a change. We do have wooden Hearts!
Christmas is all but cleared but we have an enormous amount of sorting and storing of decorations to complete. Always a tough task to find space and we usually end up finding baubles in strange places all through the year.
A busy month with more Christmas garlands to make and install at shops and resturants around London! We seem to have been 'doing' Christmas forever, but a glass of wine and a mince pie can revive us enough to enjoy the scent of pine and cinnamon sticks again. Recieved our copy of the documentary DVD from NHK Japan and watched with amusement as they caught us having lunch on a busy day making Christmas decorations! Happy Christmas...!
Finished Christmas decorating at Waddesdon Manor on 9th November. Far too early really to have had enough of baubles, lights and glitter! We have been filmed preparing and installing the decorations by Japanese NHK Cosmo Media for a TV documentary. As soon as we are back in London we are installing other Christmas displays! Some on the coldest day when we have to work outside. Brrrr, cannot even feel our fingers or pine cones anymore. Thank goodness for bacon and egg sandwiches that get us through these days!
In between providing fresh flowers for events, we are moving into 5th gear now for Christmas. We need hundreds of meters of building timber, at least 50 litres of paint, many kilograms of wire, 30 cans of spray paint, 20 tubs of glitter and an immense amount of packing materials before we even get to the baubles and ribbons! Spent a few chilly hours choosing many 16 foot Christmas trees on a farm outside London.
Every week a different display in the window at Hari's Hairdresser, reflecting the end of Summer and the start of Autumn,
Sunny sunflowers for the heat of August!
Starting on Christmas decorations now, never too early! Thousands of corks are needed to create some designs for a wine cellar for Christmas. Everybody has been collecting, such a tough job but somebody has to do it!
Feathers are added to gorgeous coloured flowers at The Victoria and Albert Museum. Summer is finally here at last!
As The Chelsea Flower Show is in full bloom just across the bridge from us, summer is just round the corner in our studio too!
‘Ferrari’ Amaryllis are used for the London launch of the Ferrari 488GTB at The Sorting Office WC1.
The Flower People studio is chosen as a location by Donroy films for their ‘Stones’ movie. Telling the story about a singer/songwriter Alexander McKay and his friend who happens to be a florist, our base becomes home to a 20 plus film crew for 4 days! We not only supply space, but an amazing assortment of props and some guidance on flower arranging! The days were long, we are used to those, but it was a fascinating experience and we are looking forward to seeing the film when it is released later this year.
Red Roses heart for a Valentine’s Day window display.
Happy New Year!
Thistles and Paper White Narcissi for a Burn’s Night Dinner.
